History
The various historic resources and
archeological findings indicate that the first
settlement of mankind in the Burdur region
which was called as Pisidia in the ancient
ages extends to the Paleolithic Age. According
to the rock paintings discovered at the
Başkuyu village of Yeşilova district, the
presence of mankind in the Paleolithic Age was
definitely determined.
At the excavations executed in the Hacılar
Village, the layers between IX-VI (BC 5400)
are determined. This age is named "Non -
Ceramic Neolithic" which is dated to BC 7th
thousand is the age in which the mankind
domesticated the animals, founded villages and
learned to produce pottery and passed to
productivity from collectivity and therefore
bounded to a specific land. The discovered
mother goddess figurines and human face
depicted potteries hold an important place
among the archeology of the world. The region
had entered under the dominance of Frigian,
Roman, Bergama Kingdom and Byzantine
civilizations. In the later periods, the reign
of Seljukians, Hamitoğulları and Ottomans are
known.
